"Ob-Irtysh River Shipping Company" is one of the largest shipping companies in Western and Eastern Siberia and the only one in the Urals Federal District. In November 2012, the company celebrated the anniversary - 30 years of conservation and enhancement of the river and the best traditions of the Navy. OIRP was established by the Council of Ministers of the RSFSR in 1982. The need to create enterprise was caused by the active development of mineral resources of the Tyumen region and, as a consequence, the increasing volume of freight. Court delivered its crude oil fields of the region on tankers and oil barges to the Omsk oil refinery and building materials for the construction of oil and gas pipelines in the north of the region. Currently, the geography of the company extends from the Yamal Peninsula to the Caspian Sea.
