The European energy crisis, triggered by Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022, accelerated efforts to deploy renewables in line with the EU's REPowerEU plan. This plan aims to end the bloc's dependence on Russian fossil fuels by 2027 and increase the share of renewables in final energy consumption to 45% by 2030.
