Rosneft's essential advantage is its vast and high-quality reserve base with total proved hydrocarbon reserves of 22.8 bln barrels of oil equivalent – among the best indicators for a global publicly traded oil and gas company. In addition, the liquid hydrocarbon reserves of the company make it an undisputed leader. The proven hydrocarbon reserves of the company are 25 years old and most of the reserves are classified as traditional, which gives the ability to effectively increase production. The main part of its exploration activity, Rosneft performs in the most promising oil and gas bearing regions of Russia. The company is primarily engaged in exploration and production of hydrocarbons, production of petroleum products, petrochemicals, and marketing of outputs. It is also consistently extending its retail infrastructure comprising of 1,800 service stations – the country’s second largest marketing network. Rosneft has been included in the Russian Government’s List of Strategic Enterprises and Organizations. The company's main shareholder is Rosneftegas - 100% state-owned enterprise. Around 15% of the shares are free-float. In 2013, a successful integration into the perimeter of Rosneft was the acquisition of assets of "TNK-BP", "NGK Itera" and "Sibneftegas".
