Dhofar Generating Company (DGC) is a company located in Salalah, Oman. It owns and operates the Salalah II IPP project, which consists of two power generation plants with a combined contracted capacity of 718 MW. The Original Plant, with a contracted capacity of 273 MW, began commercial operations in 2003. The New Plant, developed by DGC, has a capacity of 445 MW and started commercial operations on January 1, 2018. These plants represent approximately 62% of the total contracted capacity in the Dhofar Power System. DGC generates its revenues through a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Oman Power And Water Procurement Company SAOC (OPWP), which will expire on January 1, 2033. The company's power capacity is fully contracted to OPWP and is used to meet the increasing power demand in the Dhofar Governorate. In 2015, a consortium consisting of Mitsui & Co., Ltd., ACWA Power, and DIDIC acquired DGC. The project operates under a Build, Own & Operate (BOO) scheme, allowing for potential extension of the PPA or selling electricity to potential customers in the future.
