Karazhyra AO (Kazakhstan)

Karazhyra AO is a coal mining company located in Semei, Kazakhstan. The coal deposit was opened in 1967 and was named Jubilee in honor of the 50th anniversary of the October Revolution. Coal extraction began in 1990. Over the years, the company has expanded its operations by laying approximately 100 km of railways, power lines, and other necessary infrastructure. As of January 1, 2019, Karazhyra AO has extracted over 112.7 million tons of coal and conducted over 254.2 million cubic meters of stripping works. In 2018, the company achieved a record coal production of 8.155 million tons. Karazhyra AO is one of the largest coal enterprises in Kazakhstan. The quality of the coal is determined by the current standards set by the organization. The coal from the Karazhyra deposit belongs to the D grade, with an ash content ranging from 12% to 25%, a moisture content of 12-16%, and a volatile matter content of 47%. The lower heating value of the fuel ranges from 4500 to 5200 kcal/kg. To improve the quality of the coal, the company utilizes various equipment such as the FGX-6 experimental industrial plant and the FGX-24A enrichment complex. These installations have allowed the company to obtain an additional 300-400 thousand tons of coal per year. The coal is sorted using the DSO-4M crushing and sorting complex, as well as the GISL 82A and SK-700 screening units. The company has implemented quality management systems, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 18001. These systems ensure predictable results and aim to meet the demands of business partners. The company has also implemented an integrated management system to enhance coordination within the organization. The certification for ISO 9001:2008 was obtained in 2010, confirming the compliance of the quality management system with international standards. In 2011, the company implemented the ISO 14001:2006 environmental management system and the OHSAS 18001:2008 occupational health and safety management system. The integrated management system was introduced in 2013. The company's certification for ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 18001:2007 was conducted by TOО "Sovmestnoe Predpriyatie "Orion Kazakhstan" and is valid until May 2020.
