Bank Karafarin is a private Iranian bank headquartered in the city of Tehran. It was incorporated in 1999 by a group of professional engineering organizations and banking experts. Initially it acted as a non-banking credit institution and received its banking license by Iran’s Central Bank in 2001. Bank Karafarin offers the full range of services related to retail banking, including deposits, loans extension, trade finance, sale of securities, letters of guarantee and foreign exchange, in addition to investment banking. Its shares are traded on Tehran Stock Exchange. Karafarin Bank, like all Iranian banks, operate under the principles of Islamic Sharia law, which bans the charge and payment of interest.
