Financiera Popular Ceibeña S.A. is a financial institution located in La Ceiba, Honduras. It was incorporated on June 11, 1993, as a variable capital anonymous society, but in 2000 it became a fixed capital anonymous society. The company was founded by Ceibeño entrepreneurs and is primarily engaged in providing financing to the commerce, industry, and various productive and consumer sectors. It also engages in the buying and selling of real estate, securities, and other lawful commercial activities. In line with its vision, the Board of Directors opened an agency in the city of San Pedro Sula on June 21, 2006, with the aim of gaining a stronger position in the Honduran financial market. This agency specifically caters to the maquilas located in the INDEHLVA park and employs twenty people. On October 12, 2004, the company relocated to a modern building on Boulevard 15 de septiembre, the former Palic building. This new location provides better customer service with modern facilities and ample parking. Currently, the company has 30 employees working at this site. On September 1, 2006, Financiera Popular Ceibeña S.A. expanded its presence nationally by opening a branch in the city of Tocoa, Colon. This branch currently has three employees and aims to establish itself in the market of the northern coast. Both the main office and its branches are supervised by the National Commission of Banks and Insurance and regulated by the Central Bank of Honduras. As an intermediary institution, Financiera Popular Ceibeña S.A. collects funds from the general public through Certificates of Deposits, offering interest rates higher than the market average.
