Almagrario S.A. was founded in 1965 and since 1966 it has been subordinated to the Ministry of Agriculture. Its purpose is to exercise the custody, maintenance, monitoring, management, receipt and exclusive distribution of agricultural products and fruits, cleaning and preparation of such fruits and products, the issuance of certificates of deposit and pledge bonds goods on such products.
In addition, Almagrario assumed, in cooperation with the National Government, the mission of stabilizing prices of agricultural commodities such as rice, sorghum and maize. With the storage of these products the national government provides incentives to prevent oversupply in the market and therefore lower the prices.
