The company was formerly known as Lhasa Brewery, which is the only beer manufacturer in autonomous region and one of the 66 national key enterprises. It is a key enterprise supported by the country. Business scope: production and sales of beer, beverage; feed, aquaculture; entertainment services; saffron product development; computer hardware and software system integration, research, development, production and sales of network and information technology products. The products are mainly for Tibet market. As the production scale is small and product supply falls short of demand, it shares 30% of Tibet market. Outside Tibet, the main supply market is Chengdu and the surrounding areas, and the products are sold through Chengdu to national wide, and the re- trade channel has been opened through Nepal. In 1997, the company was granted with the honor of vanguard of reform and opening up; in 1998, it ranked seventh in the list of top tax payers in the region (4th in 1999).
