Since its creation Tanner has been characterized by continuous innovation in products and services, both nationally and internationally. In 1924, the English citizen Herbert J. Tanner and Don Benjamin Villaseca, created Tanner & Co. Corredores de Bolsa, participating as a member of the Santiago Stock Exchange that year. Since the 1990s, factoring began to develop in Chile, and under the corporate name of Bifactoring S.A., Tanner was constituted by the main shareholders of Banco BHIF (1993) and actively participates in the formation of the Chilean Association of Factoring Companies A.G. (ACHEF). Also, it has successfully developed international factoring since 1996, being the leader in Chile in this service. Having started the activities as a factoring company, in 2005 it opened the Automotive and the first Product Brokerage Divisions. At the end of 2007 the company created the Leasing Division. In 2010 it acquired Gestora Tanner SpA, in order to expand its scope of action towards the intermediation of securities and investment funds. The following year, it created an Insurance Broker in order to serve its auto loan portfolio and offer insurance to all its clients. In December 2011, Factorline changes its name to Tanner Servicios Financieros for its new diversification in the portfolio of products it offers to the market. Since the creation of Bifactoring S.A., then FactorLine S.A., today Tanner Servicios Financieros S.A. the company has remained the largest non-bank lending institution in Chile with a leadership position in the small and medium-sized segment.
