Compania Minera Nevada S.p.A. is a Chilean subsidiary of Barrick Latam, the regional business unit of Canadian Barrick Gold Corp. Incorporated in 1977, the company is currently involved in two major projects: Mina de Caliza Potrerillo and Pascua Lama. The Mina de Caliza Potrerillo project involves extracting and processing 128,000t/m of limestone from Monte Verde, in northern Chile's Atacama region (III). The project includes a processing plant, a limestone furnace unit and a lime hydration unit. Pascua Lama, the first binational mining project in the world, is located on the border of Chile and Argentina, and seeks to develop an open-pit gold and silver mine.
