Chilena Consolidada Seguros de Vida S.A. is a company located in Santiago, Chile. It was incorporated in 1853 in Valparaíso as the first national insurance company and the oldest in Latin America. The company was initially focused on insuring fire and maritime risks. Shortly after its founding, it issued its first policy to General Ramón Herrera for a fire insurance on a property in Cochrane Street, Valparaíso. Chilena Consolidada Seguros de Vida S.A. became a founding member of the Inter-American Federation of Insurance Companies (FIDES), a non-profit organization representing 22 countries in Latin America, the United States, and the Iberian Peninsula. Jorge Bande, the General Manager of Chilena Consolidada at the time, was appointed as the first President of FIDES. After becoming part of the Zurich Group, the company benefited from the capabilities of the Zurich world and focused on becoming the best provider of protection and savings solutions in the Chilean market, serving both individuals and businesses.
