Spanish ceramics producer Roca has been present in Bulgaria since 1999 after acquiring local bathroom fixture manufacturer Fayans, which is based in the north-eastern town of Kaspichan. Roca Bulgaria AD manufactures bathroom fixtures under the Roca, Fayans and Laufen brands.
In October 1996, Swiss sector company Keramik Holding AG Laufen purchased a 51% in Fayans via a USD 1.61 million capital hike. Laufen later increased its stake in the company to 78% and invested some DEM 6.0 million in it by 1999.
In August 1999, the controlling stake in Fayans was gained by Roca-Radiadores after the Spanish ceramics manufacturer bought a majority interest in Laufen.
In December 2002, the new majority owner changed the name of Fayans into Roca Bulgaria.
