Serbian commercial bank Yu Garant Banka a.d., a bank created from the military service of the Yugoslav National Bank, started operations on January 1, 1997.
The founders include the state, a number of military industry companies and other companies from former Yugoslavia, which used to conduct business operations for the needs of the Yugoslav Army.
The bank was designed to render full support to the upgrade of the country's army and military industry.
In June 2003, Yu Garant Banka changed its name to Srpska Banka in a move necessitated by the dissolution of the former federation of Yugoslavia into the loose union of Serbia and Montenegro.
The lender serves its clients through a network of more than 30 branch offices across the country.
