Immediately after the end of the World War I, the Serbian Medical Association formed a working group with the task of preparing a Draft Disability Care Proposal. The Orthopedic Institute - the current RUDO was history founded in 1918 at the proposal of a medical society. The Orthopedic Institute was established as a military company and was headed by an officer-military doctor, and the first workers were World War I warriors who studied orthopedic techniques in France. With the help of the French military mission, a Fund was established that helped develop this new activity by creating the conditions for starting work in our country through the procurement of equipment and materials.
At the same time, construction of dedicated facilities began to improve the working conditions in relation to existing temporary facilities. Until the Second World War, the institute developed itself by training itself for the production of various types of tools (various types of prostheses, which were basically wood, metal and leather elements, wooden and metal crates, orthopedic footwear and other types of aids).
After the end of World War II, the organization of production of orthopedic aids was more actively involved. Immediately after the war, the Orthopedic Institute became a state-owned company and changed its name to the Orthopedic Institute RUDO , in the place where the First Proletarian Brigade was formed. Linked to this symbolism, 22.12. is celebrated as a company day.
During its existence, RUDO has developed a specific non-serial production tailored to each user, which is a difference compared to other manufacturers. Using RUDO orthopedic supplies, people with disabilities return to work and other life functions.
