Nectar (Nektar), Serbia’s leading fruit and vegetable processor, is based in Backa Palanka in the autonomous province of Vojvodina in the northern part of the country.
The company produces fruit juices, nectars, marmalades, syrups, fruit brandies and apple vinegar.
It processes some 20,000 tonnes of fruit mashes and further 8,000 tonnes of concentrate a year.
Nectar, owned by local businessman Slobodan Radun, was certified under the HACCP food safety system in the summer of 2007.
In September 2007, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) lent Nectar EUR 10 million to support its network expansion on the Serbian and neighbouring markets, strengthen its direct distribution network as well as encourage new product development.
In November 2008, the company acquired a 70% stake in mineral water bottling firm Heba and in August 2010 it increased its ownership to 100%.
