Telenor Bank, former Alco Banka, was established in 1996 to serve as a corporate bank of local ALCO Grup.
The lender is licenced to operate on the domestic and the international banking markets. It provided credits, mortgage loans, on-line banking, savings and checking accounts.
In January 2007, Belgian banking and insurance group KBC said it had reached an agreement to acquire a majority stake in A Banka from an unspecified number of investors who represent over 50% of the bank capital. In late May 2007, KBC offered to pay RSD 72,773 (EUR 898) per share for the purchase of at least 85% of the 107,824 shares, which means it evaluates 100% in A banka at slightly more than EUR 96 million. The takeover was completed in June 2007 and the lender was renamed into KBC Banka.
In December 2013 the acquisition of KBC Banka by Telenor Group was completed. Under the agreement, which was signed in April 2013, Telenor acquired a 100% stake in the bank and Societe Generale Bank took over the clients.
