EFG Eurobank Belgrade is the legal successor of Serbia's Postbanka a.d., which was founded in October 1997. The lender provides a full range of banking services to its corporate and individual clients.
In April 2003, Greece's EFG Eurobank Ergasias acquired 68% of Postbanka to expand its presence in the Balkans. At the time of the sale, Postbanka had assets of EUR 14.7 million and equity capital of EUR 3.7 million. The price of the acquisition was not disclosed. The bank was renamed into EFG Eurobank AD Belgrade in March 2004.
EFG Eurobank Belgrade and Nacionalna Stedionica, or Serbia’s National Savings Bank, started operating as one bank called Eurobank EFG Savings Bank from October 2006. The move followed the purchase by Greece’s EFG Eurobank of the 37.69% state-held stake in Nacionalna Stedionica for EUR 35 million in March the same year. The Greek bank bought 52.5% in Nacionalna Stedionica for EUR 41 million in September 2005 and later raised its stake to 62.3% via a tender offer.
Eurobank A.D. Beograd operates more than 100 units throughout the country.
