British American Tobacco (BAT), the world's second-biggest cigarette maker, set foot in Serbia in 1996.
The company then picked Belgrade as a regional centre and set up British American Tobacco South-East Europe d.o.o.
In September 2005, BAT opened a new production line worth some EUR 30 million in its Serbian unit.
The UK cigarette manufacturer claims its total investments in Serbia, including the acquisition and upgrade of its local factory DIV-BAT, stood at EUR 93 million by the end of 2005.
