Belgrade airport was initially opened in 1962. In 1992 state-owned company Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport was established. In August 2005, four companies were spun off – Aerodrom ketering, Aerodrom parking, Aerodrom poljoprivredna operativa and Aerodrom cistoca terminali.
Nikola Tesla Airport is a hub for the Serbian National carrier Air Serbia.
In early 2011, some 4.8 million citizens received shares of Aerodrom Nikola Tesla under the government’s free shares distribution plan.
In September 2011, the company announced plans to invest EUR 55 million over the next three years in improving the airport’s infrastructure.
