Cao Bang Iron and Steel Joint Stock Company, located in Cao Bang, was founded on October 31, 2006 by the Mineral Corporation of Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industry Group, Red River Construction Corporation, and Cao Bang Minerals and Metallurgy Joint Stock Company. The company aims to exploit the mineral resources of the mountainous province and move away from solely exporting raw ore. With a charter capital of VND 100 billion, the company plans to explore and exploit iron ore at the Na Rua iron mine and build a cast iron and steel factory. The factory will have a capacity of 179m3, producing 150-170 tons of billets per year and 30,000 tons of cast iron per year. The company's goal is to increase iron and steel output, contribute to the local economy, and create jobs for over 1,100 employees. The company has already begun the construction of the Cao Bang Iron and Steel Complex and the Na Rua Iron Mining Project, with a total investment of VND 1,911 billion. The complex will have a sintering plant, blast furnace, and steel transfer furnace, with a total design capacity of 221,600 tons of steel billets per year. The company has also completed the exploration and preparation of reports for the Na Rua iron mine, which has reserves of over 16,700 thousand tons of iron ore. The mine will provide a stable source of raw materials for the iron and steel complex and employment opportunities for over 500 workers.
