Toyota de Venezuela C.A. is a company located in the Distrito Metropolitano de Caracas. It was incorporated in December 1957 when Carlos Siso Paván and Alfredo Behrens Dalla Costa acquired the franchise from the Bilbao brothers. The company continued the importation and distribution of Toyota vehicles under the name Tocars, C.A. In the mid-1960s, due to a presidential decree prohibiting vehicle imports, Tocars, C.A. partnered with a local assembly company to produce the FJ-40 canvas roof and FJ-45 pick-up models under the supervision of Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC). The demand for these models in the Venezuelan market led to the expansion of the company's infrastructure. Tocars then collaborated with Indemaca, a company that assembled International trucks in Maracay, to meet the increased production volumes and introduce two new models, Hiace and FJ-55. In 1979, a partnership between the Ministry of Development and Tocars led to the initiation of studies for the construction of a vehicle assembly plant in the city of Cumaná.
