Ford Motor de Venezuela S.A. is a company located in Valencia. It was founded in 1903 by Henry Ford and 11 other partners, and has since become one of the largest corporations in the world. Ford Motor Company is the fourth largest industry and the second largest producer of passenger vehicles and trucks. In its first 15 months of operation, the company sold 1,700 Model A cars, the first of 19 models. Over the next 19 years, Ford's success continued, with sales exceeding 15 million units worldwide. The creation of this company had undoubtedly sparked an industrial revolution. In 1917, Ford began producing trucks and tractors, and in 1919, construction began on the Rouge manufacturing complex in Dearborn, Michigan. In 1932, Ford became the first company in history to successfully cast a V-8 engine block in one piece, making the Ford V-8 model a leader in the automotive industry for several years. From 1942, Ford Motor Company dedicated all its resources to the North American war effort. In 1945, Ford resumed its role in manufacturing commercial vehicles, achieving great success in technological leadership and sales. It now has over 60,000 supplier companies worldwide and is ranked as the second largest of the top 500 American industrial corporations in terms of sales. Ford's business has also successfully expanded into other areas such as financial services, automotive parts, and electronics. In 1962, Ford Motor began vehicle assembly in Venezuela at its plant located in Valencia. Over the past 50 years, Ford has introduced models to the Venezuelan market that have made history, including the Maverick, F-150 pickup, Sierra Escort, Festiva, Fiesta, Laser, F150, F-350, F 7000 and 8000 trucks, and Ranger. They have also introduced utility vehicles like the Bronco and the popular Explorer. The Ford plant in Valencia has received national and international recognition and certifications. In 1993, it was awarded the Q1 accolade, a corporate recognition given to assembly plants that fully comply with global quality standards. In 1996, Ford received the international ISO 9001 certification from FONDONORMA, acknowledging that its Quality Management System meets the requirements of the international ISO standard. In 1998, the company obtained the ISO 14001 certification for its Environmental Management System, placing it at the forefront of environmental protection.
