Banco de Desarrollo Economico y Social de Venezuela, also known under the abbreviation BANDES, is an autonomous financial institution created on May 10, 2001, and is attached to the Ministry of Finance. It has the competence to act in the national and foreign territory financing projects oriented towards economic stability, stimulating private investment in depressed and low-performing areas. It is also the fiduciary entity of public sector organizations, technically and financially supports the expansion and diversification of the social and productive infrastructure of the priority sectors, and administers international financial agreements.
