Founded in 1898, today Fanapel is one of the largest paper companies in Uruguay. In May 2007, the Group Tapebicua, forest industry group with operations in Argentina and Uruguay, acquired 97.6% of the shares of Fanapel consolidating the development of a regional industrial design, committed to the rational use of resources and protection environment. Its location in the heart of Mercosur, allows a very quick response to the countries of the region, while the proximity to two of the most important ports in South America, Montevideo and Buenos Aires-gives a good frequency of ships to other destinations . The integration from its own eucalyptus forestry, pulp and paper manufacturing for printing, wrapping and writing as well as a specialization in coated paper, place it with an offer internationally competitive. The export is the main destination of sale, reaching 56% of total volume, with major destinations Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Paraguay, and complimentary USA, Bolivia, Mexico and Venezuela.
