The Company is engaged in manufacturing of baked clay building products.
The company uses Italian-made heavy clay processing machinery to manufacture a variety of building materials from clay excavated using surface mining techniques. The company's products can be classified into nine categories and include roofing tiles, bricks, interlocking and corner blocks, pots, suspended floor units and partitioning blocks, decorative gilles, ventilators, floor tiles, pipes and cable covers.

History:
1950: The company was incorporated on July 10, 1950 by Mr. Hippocrates and Mrs Clio Georgiadis first registered the Company as a private limited liability company.
1969: The company's ownership has changed hands over time and in 1969, Westomat Construction and Engineering Corporation (WCEC) took over the company.
1977: These in turn sold 75 of the company to National Housing and Construction Corporation (NHCC) in 1977, and their remaining 25 to White Tower Corporation (WTC) in 1996. It is the 75 stake in the company acquired by NHCC from WCEC in 1977 which Government divested at the end of 1999, bringing on board National Social Security Fund (NSSF) and National Insurance Corporation Ltd (NICL) together with other 957 shareholders.
2000: The Company listed at USE Stock Exchange on January 18, 2000.
2002: WTC sold their interest to Kenya Clay Products Ltd (KCPL), who are also engaged in similar business like UCL, in August 2002.
2006: In 2006, KCPL sold out their interest to different shareholders, and currently the main shareholders remain NSSF (33 ) and NIC (19 ) together with just over 2000 other shareholders.
