Tanzania Portland Cement Public Limited Company (Tanzania)

Tanzania Portland Cement Company Limited (TPC PLC) is the largest cement producing company in Tanzania. It was established in 1966 and is part of the Heidelberg Cement Group. TPC PLC's main activity is the manufacturing and selling of cement. The company was initially nationalized in 1978 but was later privatized in 1998. Currently, Heidelberg Cement holds 69.25 percent of shares through Scancem International DA, while the general public of the United Republic of Tanzania holds the remaining 30.75 percent. TPC PLC's shares are actively traded on the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE). The company produces five main brands of cement, including Twiga Ordinary, Twiga Plus, Twiga Extra, Twiga Super, and Twiga Jenga. TPC PLC has consistently produced high-quality cement that meets the standards set by the Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS). The company completed an expansion program in 2009, increasing its production capacity to 1.4 million metric tons per year. Under the project name CM5, TPC PLC further increased its capacity to 2.0 million metric tons per year by August 2014.
