To implement Government's policy of promoting industrial upgrading and privatization of public enterprises, Taiwan Prosperity Chemical Corporation was co-founded by CPDC and Taiwan Cement Corporation in May 1991. The plant is located in Lin Yuan Industrial Zone of Lin Yuan Township, Kaohsiung County with a total area of 13 hectares. The company is the first professional manufacturer of phenol products and currently has five production workshops. Taiwan Prosperity Chemical Corporation was granted ISO-9002 quality system certification in August, 1996 and ISO-14001 environmental management system certification in May, 1998 by the Commodity Inspection Bureau of Ministry of Economic Affairs. In January, 2006 it purchased 129,999 square meters of land as the Linyuan plant. In March the company issued IPO and in October went public in Emerging Stock Market and in October, 2007 its shares were listed and traded. Taiwan Prosperity Chemical Corporation has been principally engaged in the production, processing and distribution of petrochemical products. The company provides isopropyl benzene, phenol, acetone, bisphenol and cyclohexanone. Its products are applied in the manufacture of phenol, acetone productions, phenolic resins, salicylic acid, organic solvents, epoxide resins, flame retardants, vibrins and organic solvents. The petrochemical industry is technology and capital intensive and it is not easy to set up a big-scale petrochemical plant. Besides the financial, human and technical reasons, it also requires environmental impact assessments and the approval of local residents. Taiwan Prosperity Chemical Corporation has been engaged in the industry for a long time and has set up a professional's image, a stable market position and complete marketing network. Therefore, in terms of production capacity and market scale of economic, the company is able to reduce production costs and manufacture competitive products so as to become one of the major suppliers in the petrochemical industry. During the year ended December 31, 2010, the company obtained approximately 93.21% of its revenue from its phenol businesses. The company distributes its products in the domestic and overseas markets.
