The company was founded in 1964 with the name Taiwan Land Development Corporation and renamed as Taiwan Development and Trust Corporation in 1972. In 1999 the company became privatized and listed on the stock market. In 2005 it started to focus on land development services and changed the name to Taiwan Development Corporation. Since its establishment the company has set up a number of branches in Taiwan. It is principally engaged in the provision of land development services. The company operates its businesses primarily through the development and renewal of industrial zones, including industrial zone agent distribution, civil land planning, residential land and commercial land investment and development, among others; proprietary asset smart business, including property smart and distribution, land development evaluation, urban forestry and village planning, among others, as well as city renewal business, including agent renewal zones planning, resettlement management and other businesses. The company operates its businesses primarily in domestic markets.
