Altek Corporation began business in 1996 as a cooperative venture between the Yulon Group - Taiwan's largest automaker ¨C and the China Development Industrial Bank. Focused from day one on digital camera R&D and manufacturing, In 2008, Altek has become the largest digital camera original design manufacturer (ODM) in the world. An innovator in digital image technology, Altek is today renowned as an aggressive and experienced provider of comprehensive digital imaging solutions. Altek Corporation has its headquarters in the Hsinchu Science Park (Taiwan), the Altek Research & Development Center in Taipei / Neihu (Taiwan) and the company's branch office in Los Angeles in the United States. Approval was secured in 2000 to open a global production center in Kunshan, near Shanghai, China, and, today, production capacity at the Kunshan operation is 3 million units per month.Altek was listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE) in 2002. Altek was the first manufacturer in Taiwan to develop digital cameras delivering megapixel quality and resolution. From humble, dedicated beginnings, we have fostered exceptional in-house research and development capabilities and built a solid inventory of proprietary technologies. Altek is currently the only digital camera design house with an in-house team dedicated to the design and development of core system chips. Self-designed application specific integrated circuits (ASICs) deliver the qualitative differences that place us solidly ahead of competitors. Since 2007, Altek has worked to extend its product offering into the digital video and other arenas. Leveraging in-house core system chip design capabilities, we launched in April 2008 the first digital camera ever to integrate GPS and DSC functionalities. Apart from normal digital camera functions, this new camera supports digital map browsing, searches for scenic spots and direction recommendations and assistance. A milestone in Altek product development, this innovative camera signals the start of a strategic initiative to integrate more functions into digital imaging products; delivering practical, useful products to customers and transforming Altek into a market-oriented solutions provider.
