Sumas Suni Tahta Ve Mobilya Sanayii Anonim Sirketi, located in Balikesir, is a company that started its assembly work in 1978 and produced its first chipboard on June 14, 1981. The facilities have a daily production capacity of 250 m³ of chipboard and are entirely based on German technology. SUMAŞ A.Ş. quickly began marketing its products in Turkey and abroad, with a focus on the Aegean and Marmara regions, becoming a leading industrial establishment in the Gulf Region. Since its establishment, the company has made significant contributions to the Edremit region through job creation and investments. Over time, SUMAŞ A.Ş. has adapted to evolving technology in its facilities. Investments have been made and continue to be made to improve production quality and product variety. In 1995, research was initiated for the production of chipboard adhesive, one of the main materials in chipboard production. After negotiations with Italian companies, an agreement was reached, and the state-of-the-art Urea Formaldehyde plant started production in 1996. The Urea Formaldehyde produced here takes its final form in the chipboard adhesive reactor. The chipboard adhesive system has been operational since February 1996. The melamine coating plant, which began construction in 1996, was put into operation in 1997. It quickly brought color and variety to chipboard usage with a wide range of colors and patterns in its color palette and flat, bute, and STR patterned surfaces. Sumaş A.Ş. also places significant emphasis on R&D activities. As a result of the work of our engineers and technical team, production of water-resistant green chipboard and fire-resistant chipboard (Firetex) started in early 2004. The necessary conformity certificates for these productions have been obtained from the relevant authorities. Starting in early 2004, Sumaş A.Ş. has also launched its "finish folio" and sizing plant investments, which will provide "boutique service" in the desired dimensions to its customers.
