Kutahya Seker Fabrikasi Anonim Sirketi, located in Kutahya, was incorporated on March 4, 1953 with a capital of 8,000,000 TL. The factory was established on an area of 7,500 decares with a closed area of 3830 m². The machinery and facilities were provided by German companies, and the construction and assembly were completed by technical staff and workers from Turkey Sugar Factories Inc. The company was opened on November 4, 1954, with an initial capacity of 800 tons/day. In 1973, the factory was revised and its capacity was increased to 1,800 tons/day. In accordance with the 233rd Decree Law on Public Economic Enterprises, the company was deemed suitable to be a subsidiary of Turk Seker (Turkish Sugar) by the High Planning Council's decision on January 14, 1993. The amended Articles of Association were approved by the Board of Directors on November 19, 1993, and authorized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade on November 26, 1993. The revised Articles of Association were registered with the Kutahya Trade Registry Office on December 23, 1993, and announced in the Turkey Trade Registry Gazette on December 31, 1993. The company changed its name to Baha Esat Tekand Seker Fabrikasi A.S. on May 17, 1999, and this change was approved in an extraordinary general meeting on June 25, 1999, and announced in the trade registry gazette. After being a subsidiary of Turk Seker, the company was included in the Privatization Program by the Privatization High Council's decision on June 27, 2003. The amended Articles of Association were registered with the Kutahya Trade Registry Office on January 7, 2004, and announced in the Turkey Trade Registry Gazette on January 15, 2004. The privatization process was completed with the sale of 56% of the company's shares to the administration on September 30, 2004. The company changed its name to Kutahya Seker Fabrikasi A.S. on January 25, 2005, as announced in the Trade Registry Gazette. Kutahya Seker Fabrikasi A.S. is Turkey's first private sugar factory. Investments continued after privatization, including projects such as beet analysis laboratory in 2005, quality management system in 2006, and flue gas treatment system in 2007. In 2009, capacity expansion was planned, and various investments were completed, including lime kiln, dry system conveyor belt, beet cutting machine, horizontal pulp presses, diffusion and boiling units, sludge thickening filters, dark syrup filters, plate heaters, crystal sugar drying drum, and crystal sugar centrifuges. Turbine and switchgear system, 45 ton/h fluidized bed boiler, additional evaporators, refrigerant, cooking boilers, piping, and automation works were also carried out. After the completion of these investments, the factory became more efficient in producing higher quality products while using energy and raw materials more economically.
