Eleks Dis Ticaret Anonim Sirketi is a company located in Istanbul, Turkey. The company was founded by the Elginkan family, who had ties to the Sarukhanids in Manisa and Ruse near Shumen, Bulgaria. The Elginkans initially dealt with timber trade in Izmir. The company was established in 1957 as E.C.A. Presdöküm A.Ş. by Hüseyin Ekrem Elginkan, Hüseyin Cahit Elginkan, and their father Ahmet Elginkan. The brothers, who had received their education from Istanbul Technical University, started as contractors and gradually expanded their business to Anatolia. In 1985, the Elginkan family decided to establish a foundation, which was a unique approach in the Turkish business community. Today, the Elginkan Community operates in various sectors with 19 companies and nearly 3000 employees. The founder of the Elginkan Community, Hüseyin Ekrem Elginkan, played a significant role in the industrialization efforts of the Turkish economy.
