Bank Aljazira was established in 1975 and in 1998 its management took a strategic decision to convert the Bank from conventional banking into Shari'ah compliant banking. It provides banking services and solutions in compliance with Islamic Shari'ah. The Bank operates in three segments: Personal Banking offers visa cards, telephone banking, utility payments, current accounts, automatic teller machines and safe deposit boxes; Business Banking includes corporate and commercial banking, financial institutions and syndicates, trade finance, treasury and Islamic funding services, and Investment Banking deals with financial management, investment funds, international and local stock brokerage, and Islamic investment. Bank Aljazeera's Takaful Ta'awni Program (Islamic life insurance), consists of individual products; retirement, term protection and a waqf charitable donation savings plan, as well as some corporate group plans for term and credit protection
