Established in 1965 as the Varnish and Paint Enterprise Bucharest, in 1990 it becomes a public limited company named Policolor SA. Since March 1997, it is quoted on Bucharest Stock Exchange. In 1997 the privatization of Policolor is concluded; the Romanian Investment Fund acquires the majority stock - 29.2%; The Romanian Enterprise Fund - 27.3%, the Societe Generale Fund – 11.3%; the Romanian Investment Company – 9.9%. In 1998 Policolor acquires the majority stock of Orgachim, the biggest varnish and paint Bulgarian producer.
