The existence of Mecod is related to the evolution of two distinct enterprises, which merged to form the Codlea Mechanical Enterprise. These had their own developments over the years. In 1927, the “A. Player” workshop was established for locksmithing and agricultural machinery repairs, and in 1940, in Codlea, the Technical Equipment and Machines Enterprise was created, which produced for IAR Brașov and the army. In 1943, engineer Schiell became a co-owner and expanded production. After the nationalization in 1948, the two enterprises were well defined, with approximately 78 employees. In 1974, they were unified under the name Codlea “Mechanical” Enterprise, becoming part of the republican industry. During the period 1951-1955, production increased significantly, including repair work for tractors. In 1959, it merged with the Brașov Mechanical Center, becoming an important supplier for agricultural mechanization. During 1969-1970, production increased to 63.9 thousand lei, and the staff reached 425 employees. After 1974, the company transformed into a major industrial unit, producing a wide range of agricultural equipment and spare parts. In 1990, following Law no. 15/1990, the Codlea Mechanical Company SA was established. The company went through a judicial reorganization process between 2004-2007, and in 2008, the General Assembly decided to cease production, and the remaining equipment and stocks were sold, and the premises were intended for rent.
