Import Export Bank of Romania EximBank SA was set up in 1992 as a stock company with the Romanian State as major shareholder. EximBank is an essential component of the mechanism of supporting the development of the Romanian foreign trade, carrying out operations on behalf and for the account of the bank, as well as on behalf and for the account of the State, being a State agent and acting within the Government economic policy. The main activity of EximBank is to provide financial support to Romanian exporters in order to increase their competitiveness and to cover commercial and political risks at levels comparable to those provided by export credit and insurance agencies in developed countries.
