COST Targoviste started its activity in 1973. COST (The Special Steel Complex Targoviste), a subsidiary of Mechel Steel Group, changed its name in March 2005 in Mechel Targoviste. The Complex was taken over in 2002 by Swiss company Conares Trading AG, which became a year later the operator of the Russian Mechel Steel Group for the activities outside Switzerland. Since January 1998 Mechel Targoviste is quoted on Bucharest Stock Exchange. In February, 2013 has been open to the general procedure of insolvency reorganization. And the company name back to COS Targoviste.
