It was previously known as ZMO, PMO S.A., and PMO Komex, and was established in 1953 as an integral part of the ArcelorMittal Poland metallurgical complex in Nowa Huta. The company specializes in the production of various types of refractory materials used in steel mills, non-ferrous metal plants, foundries, cement plants, lime plants, glassworks, coking plants, chemical plants, and power plants. Arcelormittal Refractories is one of the versatile refractory material manufacturers in Europe, producing shaped products such as clay-siliceous, magnesite, magnesite-chromite, magnesite-carbon, dolomite, clay-magnesite-carbon, and spinel, as well as monolithic products, concrete, and precast concrete. Since 2006, Arcelormittal Refractories has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of ArcelorMittal Poland.
