Semirara Mining Corporation (SCC) is a coal mining company and was incorporated in 1980. SCC is engaged in surface open cut mining of thermal coal, sub-bituminous coal, where the company generates most of its profits. The company's mine site in Semirara Island, Caluya, Antique is a leased property from the government. SCC has installed infrastructure in the site such as roads, buildings and power plants. SCC has a Coal Operating Contract with the Department of Energy effective until 2012. The National Power Corporation (NPC) is the largest consumer of SCC's coal product which uses the coal for electricity generation.
