Enel Generacion Peru S.A.A., previously known as Edegel, is a major power generation company in Peru. The company generates about 28% of the country's electricity. Edegel was incorporated in 1906, with the foundation of Empresas Electricas Asociadas, a private company dedicated to electric power generation, transmission and distribution. The power units of Lima are located in the basins of the rivers Rimac and Santa Eulalia, and the two plants in Junin, are close to the Tarma and Tulumayo rivers. In 1996 Edegel was listed on the Lima Stock Exchange, in which it trades shares and bonds.
