CastroVirreyna began operating using the name of Castrovirreyna Metal Mines Company, which was changed to Castrovirreyna Compania Minera S.A. in 1972. With this company name continues to operate until now. Castrovirreyna is a company belonging to the mining sector and is classified as medium-scale mining. The company holds an assignment contract for exploration and exploitation of mining rights to Santa Ines and Compania Minera SA Morococha effect until May 7, 2017. with this aasignment it owns the mineral rights that comprise the San Genaro Production Unit, where it developed up to this date the major mining operations. Under this contract of sale is paid a royalty of 10% on sales of concentrates. The company was founded in 1942 and is listed on the Lima Stock Exchange since 1997.
