The Bank is engaged in deposit schemes, loans and advances, foreign exchange facilities, trade financing, merchant banking, market maker for government securities, non-fund based services like issuing of guarantees.
It was initially incorporated in 2002 as a ‘C' class financial institution, the Kist Merchant Banking and Finance Limited, and it was the 55th finance company to be so registered under the Finance Company Act, 1985 and the Company Act, 1996. Having complied with all the conditions prescribed by the Banks Financial Institution Act 2063, Licensing Policy, and other directives / circulars issued by Nepal Rastra Bank, Kist Bank was upgraded from its previous category “C” financial institution status to that of a category “A” commercial bank.
It was quoted on Nepal Stock Exchange and commenced operations as a Commercial Bank from 7th May 2009.
On 15 September 2016, the name of the Bank was changed from Kist Bank to Prabhu Bank Ltd. subsequent to the merger of the Bank with three financial institutions namely Prabhu Bikas Bank Ltd. (PBBL), Gaurishankar Development Bank Ltd. (GDBL) and Zenith Finance Ltd. (ZFL) on 30th Bhadra, 2071. The address of its registered office is G.P.O. Box 8975, Babarmahal, Kathmandu, Nepal.
The Bank carries out commercial banking business in Nepal as class “A” financial institution under the Bank and Financial Institution Act, 2063.The Bank is listed in Nepal Stock Exchange Limited. The accompanied financial statements have been approved for publication by the Board of Directors of the Bank in its meeting held on 22nd December, 2015.
