Gopeng Berhad (Malaysia)

Gopeng Berhad is a company located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It was incorporated on 9 November 1983 and was established to manage and own the assets and business operations of Gopeng Consolidated Plc, a UK based company. Gopeng Berhad has been in operation since the 1890s and has been involved in the alluvial tin mining industry. Currently, Gopeng Berhad's main business is the cultivation of palm oil, along with short term investments and property development. They have a landbank of approximately 1,434 hectares in Kota Bahroe Estate, with 73% of the land covered by palm oil plantations. Most of this land was previously used for tin mining and has been rehabilitated for plantation. Gopeng is also developing a pineapple plantation, allocating 1000 acres solely for pineapple cultivation. This will complement the activities of the estate and provide an alternative source of revenue. Gopeng Berhad's subsidiary, Gopeng Land & Properties Sdn Bhd, develops housing and commercial properties in the town of Gopeng, Perak. They have developed a total of 328 acres of properties, including Taman Seri Raia Housing Project, Gopeng Industrial Park, and Gopeng Commercial Park. Gopeng Berhad has disposed of its equity interest in Perak Hanjoong Simen Sdn Bhd, the second largest integrated cement producer in Malaysia. This company operates two plants in Padang Rengas, Perak, with a capacity of 3 million tonnes per year for clinker and 3.4 million tonnes per annum for cement, serving both the local and export markets. One of Gopeng Berhad's notable achievements is its involvement in the design, construction, and maintenance of road works in the Ipoh to Gopeng and Tapah to Bidor stretches of the PLUS highway.
