Asteel Group Berhad (Malaysia)

ASTEEL Group Berhad is a leading company in the manufacturing, trading, and servicing of steel materials. It was incorporated in 1977 in Kuching, Sarawak and was listed on the Second Board of Bursa Malaysia in 1997. The company changed its name to ASTEEL Group Berhad in 2023. In 1983, ASTEEL signed a joint venture agreement with Marubeni Corporation for the manufacture of galvanized sheets and later established a partnership with Nippon Steel Corporation for the supply of Hot Rolled Coils. ASTEEL expanded its operations by setting up manufacturing plants in Klang, West Malaysia, becoming a leading integrated flat steel sheet manufacturer in the country. They produced various types of steel materials including Hot Rolled Pickled and Oiled Coils, Cold Rolled Coils, Galvanized Coils, and Colour Coated Coils. However, the company divested the plants in 2018 and has since then remained as an investment holding company. ASTEEL Group owns Starshine Group of Companies, which is involved in the manufacturing and sale of metal roofing and related products, as well as trading of coated and non-coated steel sheet in coils and building materials in West Malaysia. They also own ARSB Group of Companies, which is engaged in the manufacturing and selling of PPAZ, GI, roll-formed products, safety glass, industrialized building systems supply and install, and trading in hardware and building materials in East Malaysia.
