It was established in 1965 as an import substitution industry, specializing in the manufacturing of laundry and beauty soap for the local market. Over the years, SAIL has expanded its operations and now offers a wide range of products through its in-house distribution setup. These products include laundry soaps, beauty soaps, detergent powders, detergent liquids, and other Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG). SAIL's brands are market leaders in Mauritius, and since 1982, the company has been exporting soap and detergent products to the Indian Ocean Islands. Currently, SAIL exports to five countries across the African continent through its international division. In addition to soap and detergent products, SAIL's Trading division imports and distributes premium Basmati rice under its own brand names. The company is also the exclusive importer and distributor of HIMALAYA products, which include a range of herbal products for personal care, baby care, health care, and animal care. SAIL is an ISO 9001-2015 certified company and complies with REACH regulations.
