Mermer AD is a Danilovgrad-based manufacturer of construction materials. The company was set up in 1947 and is primarily engaged in production of marble monuments, tables and other allied products.In 1997, the company was privatized by a local businessman, and in 2005 it was sold to a group of Italy-based investors.Mermer’s plant is located 80 km from the port of Bar on an area of 25,000 sq. m. The annual production capacity of Mermer is 21,000 tons. In December 2009, Mermer registered the trade mark Maljat, a high quality beige limestone.In 2010, Mermer signed a long term contract for export of Maljat with Italy-based Soverchia Marmi Srl. The limestone is widely used in construction of hotels, commercial and residential buildings, squares, and churches.
