Aerodromi Crne Gore (Airports of Montenegro) is a public enterprise, established in 1999. The company, which is fully owned by the State, operates the two local airports in Podgorica and Tivat. The primary airport of Montenegro is located in Podgorica. Previous owner of Airports of Montenegro was the Serbian airline JAT. After series of negotiations between the local government and the Serbian air carrier, in April 2003 the Montenegrin authorities took over the airports of Podgorica and Tivat.
Podgorica Airport is located 12 km south from the Montenegrin capitol. The other airport is 4 km away from the coastal city of Tivat.
The government of Montenegro invested EUR 30 million in reconstruction and modernization of the two ports. European Investment Bank and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development financially supported the Montenegrin Airports Modernization Program (MAMP). The two renovated airports officially opened in mid-2006.
Airports of Montenegro is a regular member of Airport Council International (ACI).
