The Company is one of the world s leading owners and providers of containerships and dry bulk vessels for charter for charter.
Through its subsidiaries Costamare Inc. ( Costamare ) owns a fleet of 68 containerships in the water aggregating approximately 513,000 TEU.
Costamare serves liner companies that demand a high standard of safety and reliability and are, in most cases, among the world s largest liner companies. Costamare and its predecessors draw on a history of more than 50 years in transportation of goods by sea, with more than 30 years of these in container transportation.
Costamare s strategy is to time charter the containership fleet to a geographically diverse, financially strong and loyal group of leading liner companies. In fact, most major international liner companies are customers of Costamare Inc. Among Costamare's Inc. s customers of recent years have been Maersk, MSC, Evergreen, Yang Ming, Cosco, Hapag-Lloyd and ZIM.
The Costamare containership fleet can meet a variety of customer needs. The high-quality containerships of various sizes (including feeder, panamax and post-panamax containerships) serve short, medium and long-haul routes on a variety of geographical trades.
The Costamare containership fleet has an excellent reputation for smooth, interruption-free service, approaching utilisation levels of 100 (excluding scheduled maintenance).
Costamare owns 38 dry bulk vessels (including one vessel that we have agreed to sell), with a total capacity of approximately 2,830,000 DWT. Our dry bulk vessels range in size from 32,000 to 180,000 DWT.
The dry bulk vessels transport a broad range of major bulks such as iron ore, coal and grains as well as minor bulks such as bauxite, phosphate fertilizers and steel products. Through our diversified, well-maintained fleet and experienced ship management team, we can serve our customer s needs worldwide and ensure the safety, reliability and environmental responsibility of our services.
While providing a high level of service to its customers, Costamare also manages its business with the utmost concern for the safety of its people and the environment.
The Company also has a dry bulk operating platform, Costamare Bulkers Inc. ( CBI ), which charters in/out dry bulk vessels, enters into contracts of affreightment and utilizes forward freight agreements and other derivative instruments as hedging solutions and to take a position on the market. CBI operates a fleet of 50 dry bulk vessels of approximately 7,845,000 DWT, which are chartered-in under period time-charters.
The Company participates in a leasing business that provides financing to third-party owners.

History:
1974: Captain Vasileios Konstantakopoulos, the father of our chairman and chief executive officer, Konstantinos Konstantakopoulos, founded Costamare Shipping in 1974.
1984 :The company initially owned and operated drybulk carrier vessels, but in 1984 we became the first Greek-owned company to enter the containership market.
1992: The Company have focused exclusively on containerships.
2008: The Company was incorporated in the Republic of The Marshall Islands on April 21, 2008 under the Marshall Islands Business Corporations Act.
2010: In November 2010, The Company completed an initial public offering of common stock in the United States and began trading in New York Stock Exchange on November 4, 2010.
The Company listed on New York Stock Exchange , Frankfurt Stock Exchange , Boerse Stuttgart and Boerse Berlin.
2011:The Company continues to expand its fleet, taking delivery of ten second hand vessels and contracting to purchase 10 newbuildings, which were fixed on long term time charters with MSC and Evergreen.
2012: On March 27, 2012 and October 19, 2012, The Company completed two follow-on public offerings of common stock.
2013: The Company completed a public offering of Series B Preferred Stock on August 7, 2013.
2014: The Company completed a public offering of Series C Preferred Stock on January 21, 2014.
