VAS Latvijas dzelzcels is the state-owned railway company in Latvia. It operates as a holding company and provides its subsidiaries with strategical management, administrative and commercial processes. It has four daughter companies which ensure all the operational activities on the local and foreign market:
LDz Apsardze - provides security services of the assets of the holding company and its related enterprises
LDz infrastruktū - is engaged in construction, reconstruction and modernization of mainline tracks
LDz Cargo - responsible for domestic and international freight traffic and logistics services
LDz Ritošā sastāva serviss - performs repairs, maintenance and quipping of the rolling stock, is responsible for fuel storage and distribution to the carriers.
